Tasting Notes: The original salty dog brings a heavier grapefruit bite and tartness without any alcohol flavor, but definitely some salt (which pairs well.) Our “With a Twist” recipe definitely comes in a bit more round and easier to drink as it brings a bit more sweet to the tart and only muted gin flavor. Salt doesn’t go as well in the “twist” cocktail.
We combine two recipes, the classic Salty Dog and an alternative to those that do not like as much Grapefruit bite: The Salty Dog with a Twist. Both recipes will definitely bring the grapefruit but the alternative gives you something else to work towards since you already have the grapefruit juice for your salty dog recipe.
We busted out our cocktail with a CMC Whiskey Sour Glass, of course!

- 1 1/2 oz. Vodka
- Top with Grapefruit Juice
- Salt Rim
Salty Dog with a Twist Recipe
- 4 oz. Grapefruit Juice
- 1 oz. Orange Juice
- 1 1/2 oz. Gin
- Rim glass with salt
