The Vaportini, Review and Details

The Vaportini, a new product that has hit the market with the intent of making alcohol ‘breathable’, unlike other products that mingle it with oxygen in some type of vapor system, the vaportini simply captures the alcohol and its aromas as it rises from the warmth. The vaportini, as a standalone product, can simply be the glass bubble, a candle, the glass straw and the special vaportini metal stand that you can place on a pint glass.

The vaportini as we reviewed it, includes the customized pint glass, but that can be optional. The base product runs USD $30 and the full kit (with glass) will cost USD$42. The product does indeed work, you’ll notice a fairly quick “buzz” from the alcohol which doesn’t last too long. The aroma does come through the straw as you inhale but it’s much more muted than sipping.

Of course, the big concerns come down to the “unknown” about inhaling alcohol and the argument that it’s not calorie free considering the alcohol in your blood stream will still be broken down and “digested”, but it does bypass the standard means of filtering alcohol which still leaves some level of question. We’ve posted it to many of our fans on youtube and got many different results from “no way” to “I’d buy one” to those explaining why it’s bad or how it would still be a calorie counted method of consumption.

There will continue to be question due to the non-standard way of consuming and, in general, “moderation” is the key to anything. While there is an instant alcohol “feel”, that doesn’t leave out the ability for mis-use by stupid people (and there are far too many stupid people for sure). Personally, I find that it would take a long time for someone to consume 1 full ounce in this manner and there are faster and cheaper ways to get drunk.

For the price of a vaportini one could probably buy several 30 packs of low grade beer and get the same results. So, I see the vaportini as a neat niche product that will make a cool gift, and interesting experiment when handled correctly.
