Malibu Red Review

Tasting Notes: A balanced melding of sweet coconut with smooth silver tequila, earthy agave tones with sweet coconut creaminess.

This bold move provides evidence Tequila is effecting our cocktail enthusiasts in the most positive manner. Not only are there hundreds tequila’s on the market, those tequila’s are bringing fine flavorful heritage to the table. Olmeca Blanco, found within Malibu is already rated fairly high for its quality. That means we’re gaining access to a quality tequila within the base of an already popular coconut rum brand; a perfect marriage.

The fine nuances within this malibu goes above and beyond the one-dimensional outlook that you typically get from Malibu Coconut rum. Malibu Red brings a beautiful aroma of coconut, earthy agave and even a bit of a chocolate hint when nosing the glass and, with such a flavorful and tasty profile that’s not overly sweet, you’re getting something that isn’t just a simple coconut flavored product line.

You may find Malibu Red will run you an additional USD $5 to $10 over the basic Malibu rum but this comes equipped with tequila and a higher proof rum base. You’re getting more for your dollar and it’s a much more intellectual spirit that will no doubt compliment a lot of neat recipes. The trick, now, is to invent some great recipes as Malibu didn’t have a wide selection of recipes with the product because their website only shows off two very basic recipes for red.

Companies are beginning to realize we want to immerse ourselves in new flavor combinations and go beyond just a simple one-dimensional taste experience; yay for us!

I absolutely love this combination. Its not too sweet but still has that Malibu Coconut Taste but has a potent buzz with the added Tequila. Which by the way, goes down smoothly. Taste amazing, price is reasonable and well… the effects are worthy of a great combo.

yeah, I thought it was a very nice product, we’ve used it to create some of our own custom cocktails and it works great.
