Christmas Cocktails: The Arctic Chill

Tasting Notes: Dull/Watery attack with a mild raspberry which quickly busts into peppermint attack all over your mouth with a finish of raspberries.

While this cocktail may not be 100% certified holiday, it’s a good seasonal cocktail for the winter time. The name says it all, it’s a chilling peppermint powerhouse which doesn’t hit you with a single-flavor peppermint; there is more to here than just a single minty flavor. However, I’m not fully sure if I like the initial watered down club soda flavor, I think it would be nicer to have a sweet start that plays well against the peppermint. The problem is, due to gravity, it’s got to layer on top of it and be sweet–that’s not very easy to do because the sweeter liqueurs sink. So, it’s either water or distilled alcohols which will sit on top. In this case, water is the choice.

Recipe:

  • 1/4 oz. Creme de Menthe
  • 1/4 oz. Peppermint Schnapps
  • 1/4 oz. UV Blue Vodka
  • 1/4 oz. Club Soda
