Cocktail Creation Series: Fresh Ingredients, Herbs and Juices

Cocktail Creation is a delicate process with lots of extreme balancing and understanding. Okay, no it’s not. Cocktail creation can be pretty easy if you spend the right time doing the one thing that’s most required: tasting. Taste everything, lick everything and try everything.

When creating a cocktail the base foundation for that development is using real ingredients with real flavors. To understand how flavors pair one must first taste them to see how they are alone and then begin to build a tapestry of pairings on your palate through combing fruits, herbs and additional flavors. Once you understand the core of what flavor you find in a passion fruit, pineapple, star anise, allspice and all the other options you can start considering how they would work together in a cocktail.

The foundation of cocktail creation is experiences so the first thing you should do is stop worrying about how your cocktail is going to turn out and experience the flavors of all styles of options. Once you build your tasting dictionary of fruits, juices, herbs and other ingredients you can start considering the best pairings in your next cocktail creation.

If you remember one thing, remember: good ingredients make good cocktails.

If you like Passion fruits try the purees from funkin. http://www.funkinusa.com/products.php
They are 90% and 110% sugar only. Its AWESOME, mix it with some white peach puree, fresh lime juice, a little bit of honey, some Lemon Hart 151 and a good strong flavoured rum and crushed ice.
