How To Make A Mai Tai Cocktail | Bartending 101

Today we learn how to make a Mai Tai, a bartending 101 staple recipe that all bartenders and home cocktail enthusiasts should know.

This recipe, suggested by Martin Cate, is a quick and dirty recipe that’s easy to make at home if you’ve got rum, some orgeat and orange liqueur (and sugar).

We use crushed ice for this recipe as part of the shake and the dump into your glass. Then, your mai tai recipe is made best with a spent lime and a bit of mint garnish (slap your mint for your mai tai recipe).

You can make this mai tai cocktail at home or order it at the bar–if you’re a bartender this is a Bartending 101 for work because the Mai Tai is a highly requested cocktail recipe.

Our Mai Tai recipe is a bit potent, but you get used to it really quick and isn’t too forward on orgeat (almond) syrup.

The Mai Tai
3/4 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
1/4 oz. Rock Candy Syrup
1/4 oz. Orgeat Syrup
1/2 oz. Orange Curacao
2 oz. Aged Rum
