Bakon Vodka Review

Bakon Vodka arrived on our doorstep today, so we wanted to pop the cork and take a taste to see what it is all about. Got bacon flavored vodka? Yeah, we do!

So, what can you expect from a Bacon flavored vodka? We’re not sure how big the market is for bacon vodka but Bakon Vodka brings a lot of smokey bacon flavor and huge greasy fire smoke in the aroma. I don’t really believe Bakon is created for “on ice” straight consumption except, perhaps, by those that are huge into bacon to the furthest extent (like, in a scary way).

While we’ve not had a chance to confirm, we believe Bakon Vodka is really set to become a staple Bloody Mary cocktail addition. The recipe they included with our review sample was:

The Bakon Mary

1 1/2 oz. Bakon Vodka in a highball glass filled with ice.

Fill Glass with tomato juice (or Clamato for a Caesar)

1 Dash Celery Salt, Black Pepper, Lemon (or lime) juice, and Tabasco

2-4 Dashes of Worcestershire Sauce

Garnish with Celery Stalk and your favorite Pickled Vegetables.

They also suggest about eight other recipes utilizing Bakon Vodka that go beyond just a bloody Mary solution.

While they state right on the label, this is a potato distilled vodka, the bacon is where the focus is throughout the life of the spirit–I don’t think a grain would take too much away from the liquid, but knowing there is another potato vodka on the market is refreshing.

Speaking of Refreshing, Bakon Vodka says on their marketing sheet: “Pure. Refreshing. Bacon.” Personally, I may have gone with “Savory” over “Refreshing” as when I sit down to refresh with a cocktail, bacon isn’t my first though.
