Today we make the aku aku lapu, a tiki drink with a lot of crazy ingredients.

This recipe brings a lot of fruit juice up front, but some type of burnt pineapple finish which is a bit awkward, perhaps its’ the use of the lemon hart combined with jamaican rum, we’re not sure.

Overall the aku aku lapu is a strange flavored drink, it maybe fixable, but it wasn’t one of the ones we’d probably want to make again. But, who knows, you could love it!

AKU AKU LAPU
– 1 oz fresh lemon juice
– 1 oz unsweetened pineapple juice
– 1 oz white grapefruit juice
– 1 oz orange juice
– 1 oz falernum
– 1 oz gold Puerto Rican rum
– 1 oz dark Jamaican rum
– 1 oz Lemon Hart 151-proof Demerara rum
– 16 ounces (2 cups) crushed ice
