Suerte Blanco Tequila, what is it all about? We had absolutely no idea and opened the bottle, poured a bit (with a dash of water) into a whiskey snifter and decided to just go all in. First, the aroma just rose up out of the snifter as if it had a life of its own and it did it with grace, elegance and agave. What?
This crystal clear spirit put our noses to work immediately as Suerte Blanco brought the complex aromas of citrus, pineapple, white pepper, a mild earthy note and, of course, a fresh agave. Yeah, and that was just the nose!
The flavor, quite seriously, adopted so much of the aroma that I almost couldn’t believe it. I’ve had many tequila brands and during those reviews I’ve found the nose has a mild version of the actual taste or the nose brings intense flavors but the taste is muted. This was very clear in our 20+ blind blanco tequila tasting. Suerte Blanco Tequila brought the power, a juicy over-ripped pineapple mingling with a tropical citrus, peppery mid-palate and a light finish which ends mostly with bright agave.
The earthy flavor comes through the nose and also hits you with some “green” vegetal middle which rises through your nasal passages and is hard to place on any specific flavor but the best Doug and I could come up with is grass.
Sometimes companies like Suerte make or jobs too easy. A quality product with huge nose, beautiful texture and flavor in a medium bodied spirit all for around $35 is simply amazing. For a blanco, this goes above and beyond most expectations for tequila and any new tequila drinker that believes they’ve tasted a real heritage of a product should stop by a bottle of Suerte and make sure it’s part of their library of tastes.
For those Patron and Cuervo Gold drinkers… Suerte will be your salvation. I’m not even sure I would want to put Suerte Blanco and those other products in the same sentence.
Now, the question is, would the great aroma of Suerte come out in our vaportini…time will tell!
