The Long Island Iced Tea is one of the most popular recipes on the planet. The irony is that the Long Island Iced Tea (LIIT) is also one of the poorest attempts at a cocktail, ever.

However, so many people request a long island iced tea because they just ‘wanna get drunk fast’ and pretend it doesn’t taste like absolute atrociousness. One way to “fix” a long island iced tea is to simply add additional sugar or go heavy on your coca cola.

Our base recipe is true to the original design but we are going to create our long island iced tea recipe twice: once we bottom shelf ingredients and one with quality ingredients to figure out if the difference is worth noting.

The Long Island Iced Tea
– 1/2 oz Gin
– 1/2 oz Tequila
– 1/2 oz Vodka
– 1/2 oz Light Rum
– 1/2 oz Triple Sec
– 1/2 oz Sour Mix
– 1/2 oz Coca Cola

In the end, the long island iced tea is completely different with quality ingredients but that doesn’t mean all your ingredients must be top shelf. You can use a mixture of ingredient qualities but focus your tequila and your sour mix as top shelf key ingredients for the beverage as the flavor profile will change due to those ingredients the most. Gin can fit many brands and vodka is flavorless and completely lost in such a complicated drink build.
