Laphroaig 10 Year Scotch Tasting Review

Laphroaig 10 year old single malt scotch, a product that helps to define a genre. With brilliant and smooth character, a medium bodied mouth-feel with a silky texture, Laphroaig is an Islay (pronounced eye-lah) Scotch and that means it brings a peat to the table.

No, not your friend Pete, but peat…a character that defines this style of scotch and that definition is smokey, “camp fire” style intensity which will be a turn off to some and an exciting underscore to others. Those that are not quite sure if they’ve had a peaty Scotch probably haven’t seen anything near the intensity of an Islay Scotch like Laphroaig Single Malt. As Doug says in our review, it’s a 10-year old Scotch that brings a mature complexity that can often not show up in some lower-end single malt’s in the 10-year category.

Definitely something to try before you buy for those unsure of a peat profile, but don’t let that hold you back from giving it a go!
