We continue or festival of cocktail creations with a look back at the Whiskey Sour and Doug is yearning to try the Dr. Jack cocktail so we’re creating that one too! Don confesses his undying love for a whiskey sour made right and Doug shows off his pretty blue toe nails.
To me, the Whiskey Sour is a flavorful classic that isn’t your typical “martini” where you use a vermouth and a garnish, there is just enough extra to bring out a sour and sweet with just a bit of nice orange aroma. A lovely cocktail that doesn’t require a super genius cocktail mixologist to create. The only problem, very few bars can reproduce what you can do at home with any type of consistency.

January 9, 2012 at 7:33 pmYour comments on getting a consistent drink at a bar or restaurant are right on target. My wife likes margaritas but it is practically impossible to get them to bypass the HFCS sour mix. Now she orders tequila with lime juice and a bit of Rose’s lime juice to add some sweetness. But if the bartender is just guessing at the proportions, it doesn’t always taste like you would hope.
Cocktail drinkers unite! We have nothing to lose but mediocre drinks made with HFCS!
