Dale Degroff brings us Uncle Angelo’s Eggnog from his own Uncle (Angelo). It’s a slightly complicated recipe to build but once you make it, in appropriate volumes, you’ll have many cocktails for the holidays. This spiked eggnog recipe has been made by everyone on the show once for the holidays, now we bring it to you to try!
Eggnog is a Christmas recipe many people produce for the holidays. A fresh eggnog isn’t as thick and heavy as the store bought stuff and produces a more creamy silky texture. Add some bourbon and spiced rum and you’ve got a delightful little blend. Better than any brandy eggnog we’ve had at least!
Uncle Angelo’s Eggnog (small serving):
– 3 Eggs, separated
– 1/4 cup Sugar (not simple syrup)
– 16 oz Whole milk
– 9.5 oz Heavy cream
– 4 oz Bourbon
– 2 oz Spiced rum
Uncle Angelo’s Eggnog (punch serving):
– 6 Eggs, separated
– 3⁄4 cup Sugar
– 1 qt Whole milk
– 1 pt Heavy cream
– 8 oz Bourbon
– 4 oz Spiced rum
1. Split yolks and egg white into separate bowls.
2. Pour 3 tsp sugar into the yolks slowly as you beat.
2a. Use a power mixer if you want to beat them until they’re almost white.
3. Fold milk into yolks (stirring as you go)
4. Fold cream into yolks (stirring as you go)
5. Add your rum and bourbon (no stirring yet)
6. Grate some nutmeg into the mixer
7. Beat egg whites until they peak and fold in the remaining sugar while you beat.
8. Add egg whites into the eggnog, fold them in so they integrate.
9. Add to your glass and top with nutmeg.
