Kentucky Colonel | Bourbon Whiskey Cocktail

As Ian put …”so we’re drinking Whiskey.” Yeah, this cocktail is very light on the cocktail and very intense on the whiskey. The Kentucky Colonel has three ounces of whiskey in it with just a little bit of benedictine to add some herbal notes. Of course, that lemon twist is doing a whole lot for the aroma but not much to tone down the cocktail.

What we do try, in the end, is adding a bit of bitters to this cocktail so that it meets the standards of a “cocktail” a bit closer. We add some Jerry Thomas Bitters and it really curbs down the alcohol impact.

For our bourbon whiskey, we chose Basil Hayden because we knew this cocktail was going to be dedicated to its whiskey, you don’t want to go low grade on a three ounce whiskey cocktail!
