The Six Flags in Texas has applied for a mixed beverage permit from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commissioner (TABC). The TABC has signed off on the permit, which will allow Six Flags to served mixed drinks at Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor theme parks.
Before you get too excited, Six Flags only plans to sell beer in a few of the park’s restaurants. They applied for a mixed drink license because they host private parties and wanted to be able to offer more than just beer at those parties. The license can still be appealed for 20 days. If the people that spoke at the hearing or City officials do not appeal the license, Six Flags will be able to start serving beer by March 20. This is about three weeks after the park opens for the season on February 28th.
Serving beer at a theme park could be interesting. The beer could add to the thrill of the rides or could end up making people sick. Hopefully people drink responsibly, since nobody wants to be thrown up on while on a theme park ride.
