Grüner Veltliner is a style of grape primarily found in Austria and, in many ways, competes well against the Chardonney grape. Many of us are used to a Riesling coming out of this area of the world, so a Grüner Veltliner based wine was a slight difference, not as refreshing and sparkling as a cold Riesling.
The wine is fruity with a taste of sour apples and a slightly sweet finish. Those who want to avoid Tannic bite may enjoy this wine because of its complex structure, sweet fruit with a dull green apple scent. It goes well with chicken and other like foods.
This 2003 is mature but tastes a bit better as it breaths for a little bit, removing a slight amount of sour. Finding this wine isn’t too difficult, even in the United States and can be purchased for USD $16 to USD $19, a great value for a dinner wine.
