Grand Teton Vodka Review

Grand Teton Vodka is a fairly new vodka brand made in the United States in Idaho. It’s a smaller company producing the product, only a handful of folks putting in the work to produce the Grand Teton brand and I love that type of back-story; it’s the American dream becoming a reality. However, the reality of Grand Teton vodka can only be sweeter by having a product worthy of drinking.

The aroma is definitely in the earth-tone category, almost as if Grand Teton Vodka sprang from the soils of the earth. The aroma matches much of the flavor profile as well, this is a vodka that doesn’t really match the “neutral based spirit” because it brings actual heritage and flavor to the taste. The earthiness and the vegetal like taste profile is something I can distinctly call a “potato vodka” where wheat has a much less pronounced flavor and fruit vodka’s tend to have hints of sweetness.

The beauty of potato vodka is that it does stand out from the most popular wheat distilled products and gives the vodka a chance to build its own history and heritage here in America. A potato vodka from Idaho does make complete sense, not too unlike vodka coming from Russia so it fits the mold as well as tells a story along side its small company roots. At USD$18-$25 range, this is a top tier potato vodka that doesn’t command the top tier pricing.

What does it lack? I think Grand Teton doesn’t bring any big sweetness or even muted sweet notes but it also pulls that off with a viscous mouth feel and a short and crisp alcohol finish (at room temperature and all!) If you know you’re not a fan of potato vodka this may not be your best choice in product diversity but if you’re a vodka fan or someone always looking for a new brand to try, give Grand Teton Vodka it a go!
