Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon Review

Tasting Notes: Hugely flavorful, fruity with an almost “spiced rum” appeal yet without forgetting the bright light wood flavor. Lots of great vanilla, molasses and subtle yet sweet brown sugar. Great mature mouthfeel and awesome copper color.

Four Roses Single Barrel is the sipping man (and woman) bourbon for many great reasons. This bourbon makes me wonder if this is what the product of a bourbon and dark rum would be like if one ever would exist. As a fan of spiced rum and a fan of great bourbon, Four Roses Single Barrel is the best of both worlds because it brings a nice molasses and brown sugar along with the fresh cut oak wood flavor. All this arrives with a 100-Proof spirit that brings mild tingling on the tongue but does not burn your face off–that’s amazing.

Looking at the pricing, we’re talking about a 750ml bottle that will run you about USD $45 but I think that you’ll be rewarded with the purchase. Some consider the ABV to be a factor in their buying decisions when they’re purchasing a costly distilled spirit and the 50% ABV of Four Roses Single Barrel brings its alcohol with the price tag. Personally, I’ll take flavor, texture, color and body over total alcohol percent, but in either case, this product brings it all.

How would it taste in a cocktail? I am not sure I would dare to ruin such a liquid by bringing other products into its fold.

I find my cocktail recipes here (of course), through google, sometimes through the manufacturer’s website, through books… all over.

I’d be willing to donate some time to your project, though it would have to be something that wasn’t programming. I can do HTML and CSS, but it’s been a while, and I was never all that good.
