Bombay Sapphire highlights today’s cocktail with an easy to drink elegant juicy holiday cocktail. A dry finish, a bit of lemonade and just enough gin to make you go, “this is a juicy gin martini.” It shows itself with nice color and, I believe, it can be a great drink all year without having to be limited to Christmas or winter.
Recipe: 1 1/2 oz. Gin, 1 oz. Lemonade, 2 oz. Cranberry Juice.

December 17, 2011 at 11:21 pmDon’t like Gin Martinis? Really? Damn, you had me until then. Oh well. Nice review regardless, though this wouldn’t be my first choice of Christmas gin drinks. I recommend trying a gin nog (gin, egg nog, baileys, splash of club soda) which sounds awful but actually tastes delicious. Use Martin Miller or Beefeater.

December 18, 2011 at 8:07 pmUpon further review (and much tasting last night), vodka simply works better. So here’s my suggestion for my mind-erasing egg nog:
2 parts Vodka (be generous (note: I used Grey Goose, but I suspect Ketel One will work great too)
1 part Bailey’s Irish cream (though any brand of Irish cream will do)
1/2 part Egg Nog (we made our own, but store bought should work)
Club Soda
Pour the first three ingredients into a tall glass with ice, and stir. Then top off the glass with club soda.
Cheers

December 23, 2011 at 6:37 amLemonade? Really? Is that a bottled liquid laden with preservatives and other additives and sweeteners?
I’d just use lemon juice myself.

December 23, 2011 at 12:07 pmThat lemonade is a bottle lemonade which consists of natural sugars, water, lemons, limes and very little else. It costs a bit more at the store but I usually buy that over anything else because my kids will drink it.
Normally, however, I just make my own with lemons, limes and simple syrup. Just didn’t have time.
