Time to finally put that Crystal Head Vodka to the test in a mini taste-off of champions. I sit down with Crystal Head, Grey Goose and Absolut to find the one I like the best, blind. No time for bias when you’re messing with a USD $50+ product.

December 28, 2011 at 8:48 amLiquor prices in America are fantastic! I work in a liquor store, Absoloute is $40, Grey goose $72 and the skull is $80

December 28, 2011 at 9:30 pmI bought two bottles of Crystal Head Vodka this past weekend (one for a gift, and one for myself) for $39.99ea at Yankee Spirits in Southeastern Massachusetts. opened the box and they are signed by Dan Aykroyd real autograph. I liked Crystal Head, but probably would not buy again. Absolut Vodka is my favorite, I love all the Absolut flavors. I don’t seek out the higher end vodka. I also dont go cheap, I like Tito’s, Absolut, Ketel One is as expensive as I get

December 28, 2011 at 10:27 pmYeah, Dan Aykroyd did a few signings in New England if I recall, I didn’t go wait in any lines because that’s just crazy. But yes, there are signatured bottles in circulation.

December 30, 2011 at 3:33 amAs far as vodka (not flavored vodka) goes, I usually will have two on my liquor shelf. Usually a high end vodka (Belvedere Intense) and a lower end vodka (usually Absolute). which one I use in a cocktail often depends on the drink I’m making. The price, taste, and ABV difference all play a part in that. I don’t care what my friends think of my brand choice. I get what I like whether it’s cheaper or higher end. I’ve seen Crystal Head here before, but I don’t think I’d be willing to pay 50USD for a vodka.

January 30, 2012 at 2:20 amI’ve been in love with Grey Goose since I first tried it about 6 or 7 years ago, being the only vodka that i could sit around and sip on. i plan on buying a bottle of the Crystal Head later on more or less for the bottle, but $40 a bottle for the Grey Goose is all im willing to pay for a vodka. ive never been a fan of Absolute, but if im mixing it with something else in a cocktail or whatnot, i dont think there’s anything wrong with using the bottom shelf brand since im probably going to be using other cheap liquors to mix it with. and btw mr. schommer, i love your show, ive learned a lot of new and “interresting” recipes from you and your wife
