The Good Cork Cocktail | Stirred Irish Whiskey and…Mezcal?

The Good Cork is a cocktail from Phil Ward that brings Irish Whiskey together with Mezcal. With our ingredients, this works out to be something like a $30 cocktail! Oh, and it’s Saint Patrick’s Day.

Listen, we love ourselves a good Irish Whiskey, and we absolutely adore Mezcal. Having two core spirits in your stirred cocktail is intriguing, but will it work?

Overall, the one shining weakness in this drink is its more boring nature, in our opinion. We suggest you give it a try and see what you think. The honey notes from the Benedictine are great, the finish of smoke is fun as well. But the Irish Whiskey gets a bit lost and isn’t given a chance to rise to the top. Of course, that’s just our taste buds.

The Good Cork
– 1 oz Irish whiskey
– 1 oz Mezcal
– 1/2 oz Benedictine
– 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters
– Garnish: apple slice

For Irish Whiskey we’ve chosen Powers and, considering it’s St. Patrick’s Day…we totally did this on purpose. No…really. We didn’t forget.
