Today we’re going to show you how to make the Cobra, an overproof rum cocktail designed to be that dangerous “bite” in your beverage.

The balance to this drink can be complicated if you don’t take care with your drops of pernod (absinthe), your drink can turn into a sweet black licorice mess. The overproof rum called for in this drink is Lemonhart 151, which isn’t abnormal for tiki drinks. But, a good tiki cocktail needs some fruity syrups like passion fruit, orange juice, and lime to really fill out the tasting experience.
Of course, angostura bitters make a great dash in all cocktails, tiki is no exception. So, if you’re looking for a fun tiki drink that packs a bit of a punch but is filled out by sweet and sour syrups here is your drink of choice! Remember, passion fruit syrup is tart, so it works to balance out the orange juice sweetness.
The Cobra
– 1/2 oz Fresh Lime Juice
– 1/2 oz Orange Juice
– 1/2 oz Passion Fruit Syrup
– 1 oz 151 Proof Lemon Hart Demerara Rum
– Dash of Angostura Bitters
– 4 Drops of Pernod
