Today we’re going to show you how to make the rusty nail two different ways, with a blended scotch and with a single malt. The recipe is here: http://bit.ly/3oLWklN
Today we’re building the Rusty Nail cocktail recipe, but it’s fairly simple so we opt to create a second one. Why? Dan thought it was a bit sweet, since Drambuie is a honey scotch. We start with Cutty Sark Prohibition edition and end with Highland Park 15 year.
For this baby, we use old fashioned glasses, available at awesome drinks here:

The Rusty Nail
1 oz Drambuie
1 oz Scotch
The breakdown of flavors tends to be a bit of a smokey anise and a good deal of sweet. When sipping on what is typically a spirit-forward style recipe (no ice, in a lowball glass) you tend to have a lot of potent flavors. However, Drambuie is a honey scotch so that honey plays through in a quite direct manner; both spirits will balance against that sweetness.
Bottom line, if you like straight scotch stick with straight scotch. If you want something different or less potent, the Rusty Nail drink recipe should do you well.
