A Rob Roy isn’t like a Roy Rogers, it’s not like anything out of this universe, we create a cocktail with Scotch and Sweet Vermouth and, arguably, some of us have had this before… but does that mean we like it? Perhaps enough drinking cocktails will make you grow to appreciate this more?

This is definitely a manhattan variation in which we use scotch instead of bourbon or rye. We’re using Highland Park 15 for this one. Also, this is not like a Roy Rogers, don’t confuse the two.

The Rob Roy
– 2 oz Scotch
– 3/4 oz Sweet vermouth
– 3 dashes Angostura bitters
– Garnish: brandied cherry

So if you like manhattans and you like scotch whisky, the Rob Roy cocktail recipe may be right up your ally. For us, we’re thinking perhaps less vermouth (no vermouth) and amaro (or just straight up scotch).
