The angostura bitters balances out this cocktail so it’s not too sweet, even though it uses allspice dram and a bit of simple syrup. However, the dry forward flavor of our bourbon against the lime juice keeps this drink easy and balanced.

The Lion’s Tail
– 2 oz bourbon
– 1/2 oz allspice dram
– 1/2 oz lime juice, freshly squeezed
– 1 barspoon simple syrup
– 2 dashes Angostura bitters
– Garnish: orange twist

This drink is well crafted, it’s got a lot of dry notes due to the use of Maker’s 46, probably, but you will find that the bourbon you choose does drive a bit of the full bodied flavor. But you won’t be able to avoid the allspice flavor, angostura and nice flavor combinations.
