How To Make The Krakatoa / Tiki Cocktail

Today we’re going to show you how to make the Krakatoa, a tiki cocktail for those in the tiki drink mood. You’ll want to have a good appreciation for coffee flavored drinks for this guy, because it brings rum and coffee liqueur together (and coffee liqueur’s base spirit is rum so…)

It’s tiki drink season and the Krakatoa needs to get on the list! This coffee-forward flavored tiki drink brings the high impact punch of rum to that of some juices, three juices: orange juice, grapefruit juice and lime juice. A good balance of acidity and sweetness as a good tiki cocktail recipe should become!

The Krakatoa may be based on the recipe from Jeff Berry, or some variation off of the original 1960’s tiki creation. Still, a fun recipe that offers a lot of variety of juices and only a few bottles of alcohol.

The Krakatoa
– 1 1/2 oz. Gold Rum
– 1 1/2 oz. Dark Rum
– 1 oz. Orange juice
– 1 oz. Grapefruit juice
– 1 1/2 oz. Lime Juice
– 1 oz. Apricot Liqueur
– 1/2 oz. Velvet Falernum
– 2 oz. Coffee Rum
– 1 Dash Angostura Bitters
