This recipe, submitted by Jon Spikes, looked interesting as it was working with both a rum and cinnamon syrup (and grapefruit which we love in cocktails) as well as Fernet Branca. And, there are not a ton of well balanced and great Fernet Branca cocktail recipes. So, we wanted to see if this would hold up to our personal expectations.

This drink ended up being above our expectations on flavor and wasn’t too Fernet Branca forward with herbal cold blasts to your face, which is always enjoyable to avoid.

• 2 oz. Jamaican gold rum
• ¼ oz. Fernet Branca
• 1 oz. Fresh grapefruit juice
• ½ oz. Cinnamon syrup
• ¼ oz. Fresh lime juice
• Garnish: lime wedge
Definitely a worthy contender, if you make or wanna pickup cinnamon simple syrup.
