Hornitos Lime Shot, Tequila Review

Hornitos Lime Shot, a “flavored tequila” by the folks that create Hornitos. Taking the time to look at this as a serious tequila, utilizing some of our tasting techniques is a bit of a challenge because, at the end of the day, it’s obvious that the goal of Hornitos Lime Shots is to do shots of Hornitos so taking it too seriously isn’t on our list of to-do’s.

However, it is 100% de Agave so it is a real product, not some fake knock off. Overall, you will find that Hornitos Lime Shots bring authentic lime cordial flavor which is more of a “less sour” lime essence across a definitely more sweet spirit. While not as fake sweet as a Rose’s Lime Cordial, you will find that there is definite sugar sweetness rounding out the start and finish of this silver tequila.

The lime brings that noticeable citrus flavor found in a sweet/sour mix with a slight less sour and definitely lacking on acidity. Definitely a flavorful citrus forward attack that lingers in the finish and comes without a “bite.” Those that are worried about the approachability of a blanco tequila will smile at the flavor profile of Hornitos Lime Shot. I still am a firm believer that this is designed to do a quick shot with your friends or at a bar just having a good time and not to be fully taken seriously as a blanco. In the end, it’s a serious shooter that’s build on a brand that brings true tequila in 100% de agave style.

If you’re going to do tequila shots and want something mild and forgiven yet still bringing 100% de agave tequila: Hornitos Lime Shots might just be the thing to try. Plus, it’s about the same price as standard Hornitos Plata.
