The Pina colada can be made in a variety of ways but this pina colada recipe is designed using a combination of coco lopez coconut cream, pineapple juice and standard white rum. While some pina colada cocktails call for coconut rum, it’s a non-issue when using coconut cream because all your great coconut flavor comes through that key ingredient.
All you need for the pina colada is white rum as your base spirit and, because we’re blending it, you’ll probably want a blender. Do you have to blend a pina colada? Not always, but the blended one comes out cold and refreshing. You’ll also find that this series of videos will bring together three blended beverages: The Pina Colada, The Strawberry Daiquiri and the Miami Vice. This is the first of three blended recipes.
