I’ve had a lot of requests and searches hitting everydaydrinkers.com for lower calorie cocktails and spirits. Hopefully, I can supply you with a few neat recipes that are classy yet tasty. I received a set of recipes from the VeeV Açaí folks and wanted to pass them on!
Rooftop parties, beach bashes, BBQs in the backyard – this summer is filled with boozy temptations. Stay away from calorie-laden tipplings like Cosmopolitans (251 calories) or Margaritas (338 calories), and imbibe by mixing under 150 calorie treats with the Brazilian super berry acai. VeeV It Up (calories: 93.3)
- 2 ounces VeeV Açaí Spirit
- Club soda
- Lime wedge, for garnish
Instructions: Build in an ice‐filled rocks glass and stir. Garnish with the lime wedge.
Pomegranate‐Açaí Lemonade (calories: 100)
- 2 ounces VeeV Açaí Spirit
- Fill with sugar‐free lemonade
- ¼ ounce POM Juice (PAMA can be a substitute if necessary)
- 2 lemon wheel slices
Build in a highball glass topping with the POM juice and floating the lemon wheels inside the glass.
VeeV Basil Gimlet (calories: 139.8)
- 2 ounces VeeV Açaí Spirit
- 4 fresh basil leaves
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- ¾ ounce simple syrup
Tear 3 basil leaves to release oils and drop into the shaker. Shake all ingredients well with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with the remaining basil leaf.
Eco‐Mojito (aka Açaí Mojito) (calories: 138)
- 2 ounces VeeV Açaí Spirit
- ¾ ounce simple syrup
- 4 lime wedges
- 6 mint leaves
- Club soda
Shake the first four ingredients well with ice and transfer to a rocks glass. Top with club soda and stir well. Note: Can use agave nectar as healthier option or diet citrus soda in place of simple syrup and club soda for under
Fountain of Youth (calories: 117.9)
- 3 ounces Pure coconut water
- ¾ ounce passion fruit puree
- Freshly grated orange zest, for garnish
Shake all ingredients well with ice and strain into an ice‐filled highball glass. Garnish with the orange zest.
Spa Cooler (calories: 129)
- 2 ounces VeeV Açaí spirit
- 1 ounce fresh lime juice
- 0.75 ounce simple syrup
- 5 mint leaves
- 5 cucumber slices (very thin)
Shake all ingredients well with ice and strain into an ice filled rocks glass. Garnish with a cucumber slice. Note: Cucumbers can be sliced using a mandolin slicer to get thin as well as providing the most from one cucumber and quickly. Basil or sage can be subbed for mint.

April 23, 2012 at 3:55 pmFor your readers, If you replaced our simple syrup (0 calories) in these recipes you could save another 50-100 calories per drink- ours is made with Stevia and has no aftertaste as other sugar free products on the market- I love using Veev with our Lemon Drop Mixer (sugar free and 1.5 calories an ounce) it is my favorite drink! and crazy low in cals
