Brave Spirits Announces Launch of Philadelphia Blue Day

Yesterday at the Philadelphia Supports Our Police Rally held in Sister Cities Plaza, Jennifer Fox, Co-founder of Brave Spirits, announced a new city-wide fundraiser set for October 28th to raise money and awareness for the Philadelphia Police Department and The Philadelphia Lodge 5 Survivor’s Fund.

In an effort to support the Philadelphia Police Department and The Philadelphia Lodge 5 Survivor Fund, Brave Spirits created Philadelphia Blue Day. The fundraiser has already generated support from several prominent local retailers, restaurants and bars. On October 28th participating locations will donate 10% of their sales from that day to support the Philadelphia Lodge 5 Survivor Fund.  Area businesses are encouraged to sign up at www.PhiladelphiaBlueDay.com.

“In the past 12 months, Philadelphia has had four police officers killed in the line of duty and these deaths have devastated the families, police force, and the entire Philadelphia area,” said Jennifer Fox. “Donations to The Philadelphia Lodge 5 Survivor Fund have paid for the funeral expenses of these officers, and benefits to survivors. However, as a result of these four tragedies the Fund has been strained and needs our help.”

“We thank Brave Spirits and Philadelphia Blue Day participating retailers for stepping forward and bringing our city together to help our Fund,” said John McNesby, President of the Fraternal Order of Police. “It has been a difficult year for Philadelphia Police, but the overwhelming support we have received reminds us why we love this city and have made it our job to protect it.”

“The purpose of Philadelphia Blue Day is to honor, remember and celebrate the members of the Philadelphia Police Department who dedicate their lives to protecting the City and its Citizens,” said Fox. “Our goal is to raise $50,000 to support The Philadelphia Lodge 5 Survivor Fund and we invite and encourage members of the community to come to any of the participating locations to show support for the Philadelphia Police and help us reach our fundraising goal. We thank our partners and those helping us get the word out. A list of Philadelphia Blue Day participants is listed at PhiladelphiaBlueDay.com.”

“WMMR has a long history of supporting our police and is excited to work with Brave Spirits on Philadelphia Blue Day,” said WMMR Program Director Bill Weston.

Brave Spirits’ mission is to support charities that benefit the people that serve the United States and risk their lives for their country, including firefighters, police officers and members of the military, among others. The company produces a line of spirits that are entirely American made, and two dollars of every bottle sold goes to the Brave Spirits Foundation, which makes donations to charities supporting these men and women.

On October 29th, Philadelphia Blue Day will host an event to gather contributions from participating retailers and present these funds to The Philadelphia Lodge 5 Survivor Fund. Businesses interested in participating in Philadelphia Blue Day can sign-up at BraveSpirits.com or PhiladelphiaBlueDay.com. To date the following businesses have signed on to participate in the event: WMMR 93.3FM, The Water Works Restaurant, The Irish Pub (at 20th & Walnut and 11th & Walnut), Finnigan’s Wake, SmokeEaters Pub, Curb Side Chefs and Guido’s Restaurant.
