Smirnoff Ice, For Girls?

Smirnoff pomegranate fusion is a great example of a popular Smirnoff Malt beverage. Where many malt beverages, such as Colt 54 is considered “okay” for all people to drink, what is the social stigma with Smirnoff Ice beverages?

While Smirnoff vodka seems to be generally accepted as a vodka brand, their Ice beverages seem to be marketed towards females. Perhaps it’s because Smirnoff produces so many crazy flavors like Peach and Raspberry men have attached some barriers due to their “fruitiness.”

Current flavors include Watermelon, Wild Grape, Pomegranate Fusion, Arctic Berry (Blueberry), Green Apple Bite and Raspberry Burst. Their products are quite tasty but even I wouldn’t go ordering one at a restaurant, choosing a beer over the malt beverage. What could Smirnoff, or any other flavored malt beverage company do to market more towards men?

It might be their goal to market the products towards women because they’re not ordering beer at the bar, or their sticking with products that do not make the bar as much money. Some people just can’t stand the “alcopop” because…well, they’ve got a ton of a calories. Seven Smirnoff Ice bottles will fill many people’s average daily allowance of food.

You cannot substitute a night of Smirnoff for food. The problem with these drinks is the fact that the sweetness that gets rid of the “alcohol” taste has the side effect of caloric intake. That excuse might be a reason to shy away from these style drinks, but not really a reason for men to do so. While many men have a higher intake, some higher metabolism, many men don’t seem to care about calories and their “figure” if their going out for a night of drinking.

Men are more inclined to care about what others think of them ahead of the calories they’re intaking. Marketing wise, Smirnoff is probably a woman focus because most men drink beer without hesitation while woman may not.

If you’re a guy that loves a good Malt Beverage in the form of a Smirnoff, we’d love to hear from you! It seems you’re far and few, but no good reason to be so.

First of all if a guy is seen drinking a smirnoff he is automatically criticized and has a complete loss of respect. This is because if your going to spend 10 dollars on a sixpack then it better be the women that are drinking it. men can drink cheap beer save the smirnoffs for the women

You can tell Smirnoff is a girly drink right away from the fact that it has a twist-off cap.

I like smirnoff ice and yeah Bud has a twist off cap as well! Plus smirnoff has as much, if not more alcohol than “normal” beer, and it doesn’t taste like piss. All that matters is this: if youo like it then drink it, screw what everyone eles thinks

I agree with Cliff, if it tastes good drink it. Why stick to beer other than to act like a tough guy. Drink beer at times and this at others. I don’t see a difference between Smirnoff Ice and flavored liquor other than alcohol content, yet everyone I know doesn’t mind drinking that to get trashed. Take it easy and relax have a beer and have a Smirnoff Ice. If you still think it’s a girl drink because of the taste then you have a shortage upstairs or downstairs, either one is your misfortune.

The guys posting here are too funny! I bought Smirnoff Ice Blueberry Lemonade for my husband, cuz’ he is a lemonade junkie, and has been since his childhood. He thought the taste was ok (I love it), and it definitely has a good kick to it (I love that, too!), but all it did was give him massive heartburn after the first few sips, so he drank his beloved Red Stag whiskey instead while I polished off the Smirnoff Ice drinks!

My summer baseball team purchased three mini-fridges worth of Smirnoff Ice. The green apple bite was, to this day, the best tasting alcoholic beverage I have ever had. But we got ripped by the older team members and our coaches for being men drinking a womans drink.
I can drink any beer, whiskey, and I love bourbon, but I would glady switch from one of those to Smirnoff Ice Green Apple Bite any day of the week for a nice change.
Sadly others would question my drinking abilities if I did so.

I haven’t tried any of the fruity flavors but I have had Smirnoff Ice and the great thing is it doesn’t taste like piss lol But I dunno the buzz I get from it is kinda low in comparison to something like a Corona so imma say just drink what you like. In the end, liquor is liquor and once you drink enough, it all begins to taste the same. Epic fail or epic win at the drinkers digression

I’m a 21 year old guy and I drink it. It tastes good. I don’t really like beer. Most guys will admit that it tastes good as well but it is not “manly” to drink an alcoholic beverage that tastes sweet or fruity. I don’t get that and I think people that say that need to just wake up and stop being morons…

I am a 22yo male, and though i do enjoy the taste of these i could not actually drink more than 2 of them. The sweet taste becomes unbearable for me. I can’t drink liqueur, even in a ‘good tasting’ mix drink, but i can drink most styles of beer without a problem. I think it comes down to personal preference.. I will admit that when hanging out with the guys, i wouldn’t be caught dead ordering one of these though. Beer just tastes neutral to me, not too sweet, not to bitter.

I am a guy and I honestly love the taste of ice. Yeah it’s a girly drink but it’s not like because ivdrink it I can’t drink hard stuff. I like patron and makers mark and almost any kind of hard liquor. It all depends on the mood I am in. Sometime you just want something to quench your thirst but will give a kick too. For me I am prettyessed up at about 10-12 ice’s! Beer is about the same. If u like it who cares.

For the most part, if it isn’t sweet or fruity, I don’t drink it. I am not afraid to order something like this or a Bacardi Breezer (or any other brightly coloured sweet RTD) at a bar. I think people need to get over labels and just enjoy what they enjoy and let others do the same. Some of us simply don’t like the taste of beer or whiskey or wine or anything straight like that and only things like Ice’s and Breezer’s will do. This is why I favour a cocktail any day to a regular RTD.

I’m a 21 year old male. I have four Smirnoff Ice Raspberry’s in the fridge right now. I never tried it before and it’s not mines, it’s my sister in laws lol but I asked her if I can try some and she said I can have all of them. So anyways I’m more of a mixed drinker, such drinks like vodka/cranberry or juice or whatever taste good and gets to the point. I hate beer, I hate the taste and the fact that I have to drink so much of it to feel just a buzz. I drink to feel a good buzz or get drunk faster lol and the taste is important to me.

The claim here that seven Smirnoff ice bottles will consume your recommended daily calorie intake seems bizarre. I’m sitting next to an (empty) bottle of Smirnoff Ice Green Apple Bite, purchased here in Japan. The energy content is listed as 65kcal per 100ml. The bottle is 275ml, so contained 178.75kcal. A woman would have to drink 11 bottles to use up her 2,000kcal/day recommended daily intake. Plenty of other alcoholic beverages are more calorific; straight vodka and gin at 40% volume are 222kcal/100ml. White wine and champagne are 74kcal/100ml. Baileys is a whopping 327kcal/100ml. Beer is just 32kcal/100ml, but due to the volume a pint is 182kcal – more than the Smirnoff Ice. Something “healthy” like straight apple juice? 45kcal/100ml.

It’s easy to make things sound shocking by quoting numbers out of context but the real health problem with alcoholic drinks isn’t so much their content as the way they are consumed, and the responsibility for that rests entirely with us.

I am a 46 yr old woman who does not drink a lot of alcohol in any form, but I do love Smirnoff Ice. My husband tried the Raspberry the other night and he said, and I quote, “I don’t like it, you can’t taste the alcohol.” I guess a man has to taste the alcohol in order to like it. At least my man anyway. :/ He can stick to his beer then.

For those who think real men only drink beer or liquor, think about this: in the old west, most cowboys would belly up to the bar, call over the bartender, and order . . . a champagne flip.
