Ward 8, Classic Cocktail How-To

Tasting Notes: Imagine a rye-based whiskey sour with a bit more citrus punch and a slightly more sour appeal and you’ve got the Ward 8 classic pre-prohibition cocktail.

The Ward 8 or, Ward Eight, is a pre-prohibition cocktail which reminds me closely to that of a Whiskey Sour yet with a bit more citrus not and the flavor of Rye Whiskey. Of course, given it brings a Rye whiskey into the mix, it’s perfectly acceptable to bring Rye flavor–we’re using (Ri)1 for this build! This week we’re visited by Curtis McMillan and Douglas Petersen to fully analyze the Ward Eight design. Thoughts?

The Ward 8 or Ward Eight is a cocktail originating in 1898 in Boston, Massachusetts at the bar of Locke-Ober.
