Today we are giving a tasting to Sugarlands Shine, we’ve got their Silver Cloud Moonshine along with a few flavors of Sugarlands Chocolate Coffee Cream, Blackberry and Root beer flavored shine.
The products we’re looking at include:
* Sugarlands Shine Silver Cloud Tennessee Sour Mash Moonshine
* Sugarlands Appalachian Sippin’ Cream Dark Chocolate Coffee Cream Liqueur
* Sugarlands Shine Blockader’s Blackberry Moonshine
* Sugarlands Shine Root Beer Moonshine
The Blockader’s Blackberry has a good dry flavor without an overabundance of sugars to get in the way. Allowing this spirit to shine in your favorite cocktail, probably working in place of a raspberry liqueur even if the flavors are slightly different.
The root beer flavored shine is a bit thicker with the typical root beer flavor. It’s pretty potent on flavor so it may work best in smaller quantities but it doesn’t give off the typical “medicinal” flavor you get from a lot of alcohol based root beer beverages.
The Sippin’ Cream Dark Chocolate Coffee Cream liqueur will go great in coffee or anything calling for an Irish Cream but without having to be from Ireland.
The base, Silver Cloud, is a higher proof and has a lot of that typical malty moonshine flavor. Derrick believes it makes a great substitute for vodka because it brings nuanced flavor vs. a more neutral vodka taste. But, it is higher proof, maybe we need a video comparing a vodka martini to a mooneshine martini?
