The Whiskey Smash is a 100 year old recipe design if you can call a smash a design. Take some fruit and “smash it together” into a drink recipe and add whiskey and you’ve got a whiskey smash. We have a basic template of a whiskey smash in this video, but you can modify it as you see fit.

Jerry Thomas defined a lot of the procedure to a smash but didn’t label it as such back in the 1800’s. Today, you can find smashes (whiskey or otherwise) in many great cocktail bars around the globe. Here is our rendition of this whiskey drink. “The Smash.”

The Whiskey Smash
– Half a Lemon, cut into wedges
– 4-8 Mint leaves
– 3⁄4 oz Simple syrup
– 2 oz Bourbon
