1.5 oz American Gin
0.75 oz Fresh lemon juice
0.5 oz Simple syrup
8 Mint Leaves
Its brilliance is in the simplicity, a gin sour with a hint of mint for spring freshness. You’ll find an American gin works great in this drink, while a London Dry is better for the “Chicago South Side” version. Given the light refreshing design here, a dry gin will dominate a lot of the flavor profile where an American gin often arrives with a bit of a citrus-forward flavor that meshes well with the lemon and mint combination.
So there you go, a south side cocktail recipe for your thursdays. Now go make a cocktail, get the recipe and experiment. If you want to take it to a new level, build both gin recipes, the chicago south side and the southside and figure out what is your preference.
