The Scorpion’s Reef makes Dan’s face go weird, but Ian doesn’t have any issue with the mezcal recipe. Of course, mezcal is typically smokey which isn’t something Ian loves and Dan does…but the citrus or something seems to really bring the bite.

We use Raicilla as a substitute for Mezcal, which brings much the same smokey flavor however we found this Raicilla to have a very malt-forward like flavor more so than the salty earthy tones of many agave spirit variations.

But, the scorpion’s reef is a drink that acts and looks tiki, perhaps more like a scorpion cocktail itself with the citrus flavor.

• 1 oz. Jamaican aged rum
• 1 oz. Pineapple juice
