Today we will show you how to make the oaxacan jewel, a cocktail variation/riff off the classic Bijou recipe. We call it a bijou with mezcal, a drink that tends to be a bit alcohol-forward for those that love potent numbers.

Mole Bitters:

This recipe is a simple “all 1” proportion with a dash of mole bitters, the spicier the more fun. This mezcal cocktail calls for green chartreuse much like the bijou drink. That means the Oaxacan Jewel will have a bit of an herbal kick, a slight black licorice flavor along wiht some big potency. It still is a mezcal drink so you’ll find a back end smoky action coming off the tail end.

In the end, the Oaxacan Jewel is an easy mezcal drink to make, but may require a more experienced mezcal drinker to consume. It’s going to be a love or hate relationship for many.

– 1 oz Mezcal
– 1 oz. Green Chartreuse
– 1 oz. Carpano Antica (Sweet Vermouth)
– 1 Dash Mole Bitters
