There are very few cocktails that call for Scotch Whisky (Blended, Single Malt or otherwise). Derrick’s never been a huge fan of scotch cocktails, preferring them on ice. However, the Blood & Sand is a worthy scotch cocktail for those looking to branch out from their typical drink selection.

The Blood & Sand
– 3/4 oz Scotch Whisky
– 3/4 oz Sweet Vermouth
– 3/4 oz Cherry Heering Liqueur
– 3/4 oz Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice

The cocktail recipe definitely brings the peaty scotch, hints of cherry and notes of vermouth. Derrick finds more vermouth while Dan gets the cherry notes. This may depend on your love of Sweet Vermouth vs. other products, those that are sensitive to the taste may get more vermouth notes than that of the Cherry Heering (which you get more in the Singapore Sling).
