What the heck is Mastiha? Apparently it’s a spirit distilled from Mastic, a resin from the mastic tree. It is traditionally produced on the island of Chios, and thus has been dubbed “Tears of Chios” because of the tear-drop shaped droplets it creates.
An interesting product, that’s like nothing we have ever had before.
Mastiha has been used for thousands of years by all civilizations, the Greeks, the Romans, the Ottomans, and many others. From this small Mediterranean island, Mastiha has travelled and conquered the world.
