Today we review Captain Morgan White Rum but, because it fits in a segment populated by some killer brands, we went blind on this sucker. A blind white rum tasting to figure out who stands out best. In a world full of light rum alternatives it seemed only fair to try to be more justified in the flavor profile and tasting by putting the privateer (Mr. Morgan) aside and taste the spirits within the bottle.
We bring Captain Morgan Light Rum up against a few big contenders with the major international product Bacardi Superior. So, does it compare to the products that have lived in this market for many years and established their name? The one advantage the folks at Captain Morgan have with their Light Rum alternative is that this isn’t their first voyage into rum–they’ve got a killer Sherry Cask spiced rum.

In the end, we had to bow out Cruzan Light Rum because it was too obvious on which was which as it has a slightly darker tint. It still remains one of our favorites.
