The corpse reviver concept is that of a hangover remedy. This revives your hungover ass after a night of drinking and thus you’re now walking around like a zombie. Will it work? No doubt. Is it safe? Probably not.

Remember, alcoholics wake up to drink so they can get through the day without hangover. That hangover will eventually reach you and you can’t get away from it forever. But, the corpse reviver #2 is a classic cocktail recipe design and thus was probably created before we had the right science to say “no, don’t drink to get rid of a hangover” — hair of the dog style.

The science says that is a stupid idea. However, what isn’t stupid is the corpse reviver #2. This is a fantastic classic cocktail design and the recipe is solid in terms of taste, balance and experience.

The Corpse Reviver #2
– 1 oz gin
– 1 oz cointreau
– 1 oz Lillet
– 1 oz fresh lemon juice
– 1 dash absinthe
Garnish: orange peel

So, while you might be inclined to use this as a breakfast cocktail recipe, we say no…just use it as a good cocktail recipe. Don’t hair of the dog yourself, learn to appreciate good cocktails in moderation and drink responsibly.

Now go make yourself a corpse reviver #2.
