🍹🍹 How To Make The Doctor Funk / Tiki Drink Month

Today we’re going to show you how to make the doctor funk tiki drink recipe. Like most tiki drinks, this has a heavy rum influence, but is actually a light refreshing starter tiki drink. But, you’ve got to like Good & Plenty flavor, because this brings some black jelly bean.

The doctor funk is a Donn Beach recipe based on an actual doctor / mixologist from the Polynesian islands. This is no doubt a completely different drink design from the one the now famous doctor was ‘prescribing’.

The recipe is inspired by a German doctor in Samoa by the name Bernard Funk. He practices medicine and mixology but was best known for Mixology. His original concoction was said to be “lemonade and absinthe” in flavor profile, the above is what Donn Beach came up with off Bernards original design.

The lemonade and absinthe does work its way into the Dr Funk by Donn Beach. Jeff Berry modified it to include club soda over crushed ice and a potential blend, making this a far easier tiki drink to build.

The aroma gives you a strong absinthe influence, but the doctor funk itself is indeed light and refreshing.

The Doctor Funk
– 1 1/2 oz Light Puerto Rican Rum
– 1 tsp Pernod
– 3/4 oz Fresh Lime Juice
– 1/2 oz. Grenadine
– 1 oz. Club Soda
