If you’re a Chivas drinker and have a bottle of Chivas 18 and love holiday cocktails, perhaps you’ll be able to build up the Aberdeen Flip. It’s a flip cocktail, using Chivas 18 and Oloroso Sherry. A flip, according to wikipedia, states, “The essential in flips of all sorts is to produce the smoothness by repeated pouring back and forward between two vessels and beating up the eggs well in the first instance the sweetening and spices according to taste.”
So, here is the flip of the day:
- 60ml / 2oz Chivas 18
- 30ml / 1oz Oloroso Sherry
- 1 Whole Egg
- ¼ oz Spiced Syrup
- Dash Chocolate Bitters
- Tsp Blackberry Jam
- Grated Nutmeg
Dry shake all ingredients hard, add ice, shake hard again & strain into sherry glass. Dust with grated nutmeg.
Now, before anyone has to say it, this cocktail goes against a lot of what Common Man Cocktails is all about, but the “everyday drinker” should have the recipe option for those that have access to such things as Chocolate Bitters, Spiced Syrup and Sherry. I’m sure we can find Blackberry Jam if we looked around, so that’s not too crazy of an ingredient.
Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to make this with the ingredients in our local area, but encourage others to give it a go and let us know what you think if you are able to cook this one up.
